Thinking of Moving to British Columbia?

Vancouver Island, Downtown Victoria BC

Have you ever thought of moving to British Columbia? Got all the right reasons but not really sure which city to move to? Well you've come to the right article! Let me take 2 minutes of your time to describe a couple of cities which I personally have enjoyed living in, during my time in B.C.

I’ll start off with Vancouver. Home of the Canucks! Vancouver is the cultural mosaic of British Columbia in my opinion. You’ll find a vast diversity of cultures in the many restaurants around the city as well as festivals and events such as the “Summer Night Market”. The Night Market is exactly what it sounds like. From my own experience, I saw that it mainly consisted of Asian food and merchandise so if you’re interested in socializing with people within the Asian Community in Vancouver, this is a great place for you to check out. The point I want to make about Vancouver is that it has something for everyone. For those who enjoy the nightlife, Vancouver is a prime location. If Vancouver seems a little too hectic for your lifestyle, I would recommend Vernon for those who want to really relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. The Vernon community has been very open-minded and most of the people there are quite friendly. It’s hard not to stop and feel your mind pause at times to observe the magnificent mountains or marvel at the stretches of forests and farm land. If you enjoy the outdoors, the Okanagan Area is definitely the place to be. There are dozens of hiking trails and lakes scattered around Vernon and Kelowna. Because Vernon is in a valley with mountains around it, I've already had some spectacular light shows from the storm clouds that roll in. That reminds me of how peaceful it can look at times when I see mist clouds resting on the mountains, as if the clouds grew weary in their endless drifting across the skies. Beautiful! I definitely have no regrets from moving to Vernon.

Lastly I've got to give respect to my hometown, Victoria! I grew up on Vancouver Island and have lived there for over 10 years of my life. The scenery is just as beautiful as Vernon, but for me, Victoria takes the cake simply because I enjoy the noise of the ocean and the endless ebb and flow of the tides. I grew up hanging out at the beaches, cruising around the coast of the island, and discovering one of a kind spots (usually for crushing beers ha-ha). Victoria is also where those who enjoy sailing can sail to their heart’s content. Being an island, they obviously offer tons of aquatic hobbies. You can learn how to sail a sailboat, how to scuba dive, how to para-sail, even how to surf! I still can’t believe I haven’t learned how to surf yet even though I grew up on the island... oh well, the island isn't going anywhere soon! Just like Vancouver, Victoria also has quite the cultural diversity so people from all races can enjoy Vancouver Island.

Whichever city you decide to relocate to, British Columbia has got to be one of the best places to be. But it is not cheap! Remember, B.C. can also stand for “Bring Cash”.

I hope you enjoyed reading my article and wish you a safe and enjoyable BC Moving experience.
